Sr. Application Architect/Development Team Lead: Java/J2EE, BPEL and WID
Location: South Florida
Salary: 100,000 plus
 
Sr. Application Architect /development team lead  who will provide leadership in the design, development, deployment and implementation of large scale J2EE applications built with IBM Websphere products (Websphere Process Server, Websphere Application Server, Websphere MQ) and Oracle 10/11.      The SAA will be responsible for developing (coding) proof of concept(POC) models, providing developers with best practice design patterns, for assuring developers meet  Technical Standards, and that the code the developers produce is secure, scalable and performs efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and code modular system components (POC) and validate to eliminate technical risk.  Create software architecture documentation and UMLs as necessary to secure design approval from Enterprise Architecture team.   Obtain second opinion on designs by perform final technical reviews/walkthroughs of implementation dependent designs, code and deployment scripts with a second architect or SAE architect.
  • Lead team of java developers to produce secure, high performance java code which meets  enterprise design, code quality, security and performance standards.
  • Represent  in development of Enterprise architecture frameworks and standards.   Must understand layered architecture, best practice design patterns, when to use and when not to use.
  • Serve as the technical SME for best practices for development of applications using, Websphere Process Server(WPS), Websphere Application Server (WAS), JMS/Websphere MQMQ, Oracle 10/11 and integrating with other platforms and databases as necessary.
  • Review programmer designs for compliance with standard design patterns, performance and security.
  • Communicate with BA and business SME understanding the business requirements.
  • Propose, design and leading the developer to implement the solution to the business requirements.
  • Create small daily assignments and priority list for developers by breaking modules down into small executable units which can be rapidly developed, tested and checked-in for continuous integration.
  • Assure that developers follow java packaging standards and use automated build/deploy scripts with Ant, check-in and checked–out of  CVS.
  • Lead or perform the daily manual code review produced by the developers, Review Cruise Control triggered code review reports, perform manual code review and enforce repair of violations through  direct involvement or peer review, but overseeing process to assure quality code is produced.   Require each developer to understand and fix his own design and code violations from code review.

 

Experience Required:

  • 5+ years hands on Java development experience with proven track record.
  • 2 to 3  years prior experience as a hands-on,  Sr. Architect responsible for design and development (coding) of at least two successful development projects for  high performance, high availability, secure OLTP Java/J2EE applications, preferably using Websphere Process Server V6.0.2 and WAS , V6.0, V6.1.
  • 2 to 3 years as technical team lead with technical supervisory responsibility for team of at least 5 Mid- to Senior Java/J2EE Developers with WS-BPEL, human tasks, Web Services, WSDL, Struts/JSF Frameworks, Hibernate, DAO and use of technical frameworks on two successful projects (delivered on-time, with high quality, performance and security).
  • 3+ years Java and J2EE design patterns, e.g. Gang of Four.
  • Understanding of layered architecture design principles, MVC presentation layer, session façade, business delegate, business process layer, including SCA, JMS and EJB bindings.
  • Knowledge of Websphere SOA layered architecture and Websphere facilities such as CEI, SIB, Global Transaction Management, Resource Managers, etc.
  • Knowledge of data modeling and strong knowledge of SQL programming and query tuning
  • 5+ years experience in design and development of Internet/intranet, Java applications.   
  • Deep knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycle.   Prefer knowledge of RUP methodology using IBM Rational Tools (Websphere Integration Developer[WID], Rational Application Developer, Rational Software Architect, Rational Application Developer, etc.) but Eclipse tools may be OK.
  • 5+ years experience developing  in Java, Javascript, Ajax, J2EE, XML, EJB, Struts, JMS, MQ, Log4j, J-unit, and LDAP
  • 2+ years experience developing  in Hibernate and Oracle based Java programming
  • 2+ years experiences in build and deploy using CVS, Ant, (Jacl/jython a plus)Knowledge with full development life cycle and procedure for deployment and promotion
  • Familiarity basic Unix administration, Sun Solaris preferred..
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills.   Ability to mentor developers in best practices for application design.
  • Strong team leadership and client-facing skills.    Able to stabilize and manage requirements with clients.   Able to negotiate acceptance of alternative designs and functions for optimum cost and performance with business.  
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be willing to take support calls outside normal business hours
  • Experience on WebSphere Process Server, BPEL and WID IBM training/experience is a plus
  • Oracle certification is a plus.
